DAA Northwest Spec Motor Late Model Series presented by Sherwin Williams heads to Grays Harbor Raceway
The DAA Northwest Spec Motor Late Model Series presented by Sherwin Williams will make its second and final stop of the 2010 season at the fast high banked 3/8’s mile clay oval at Grays Harbor Raceway located at the Fairgrounds in Elma, Washington this Saturday Night. This will be the fifteenth race in the 22 race series, the series features all the top Dirt Late Model Drivers in the Northwest as they will compete for over $ 150,000 in prize and points fund money. The series will pay $5,000.00 to the 2010 Champion.
Lebanon’s Jason Wines with his third win of the year last Saturday Night at Willamette Speedway, has closed to within 9 points of points leader Greg Walters from Banks. This is the closest the point’s battle has been all season as Wines is looking to gain more points this weekend, in hopes of overtaking Walters to win his second straight point’s crown. There should be a new winner at Grays Harbor Raceway this weekend asCasey Vitale who won the July race is not scheduled to compete. Other drivers have picked up wins so far this year, include Walters with five wins, Russ Sell two, and singles going to Jerry Schram, Billy Workman Jr. and Vitale.
Walters holds that slim lead in the point standings with 675 points, 9 more than Wines who has 666 points. Former Willamette Speedway Champion Russ Sell from Brownsville, sits in third place with 640 points. Vancouver’s Jerry Schram holds down the tightly contested fourth position with 623 points, closely followed by Brady Sell from Salem with 619.
Other drivers scheduled to compete include Vancouver, Washington driver’s Jimmy Schram, Brandon Biffle, and Brandon’s dad Jeff Biffle. Oregon drivers Billy Workman Jr, from Canby, Steve Moore form Scio, Lebanon’s Brett James, Salem’s Terry Ferrando, and Britton Donahoo, Kris Pickle from Sweethome, the Trout brothers, from Banks, Bob and Doug along with Beaverton’s Brittany Ray.
The front gate will open at 4:30 pm, Time trials at 5:30 pm, with racing to start at 6:30.
